Tous les Jours is a French-Asian inspired bakery café dedicated to baking fresh daily using premium ingredients. From signature cloud cakes, mousse cakes, and artisan breads to handcrafted pastries and desserts, we create joyful experiences through beautifully crafted baked goods. We are opening our newest location in McKinney, TX, and are looking for a skilled Cake Decorator to join our founding back-of-house team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a talented, detail-oriented Cake Decorator to bring our signature cakes and custom orders to life. In this role, you'll be responsible for assembling, finishing, and decorating a wide variety of cakes — from everyday display cakes to fully custom celebration pieces. You'll work closely with our production team to ensure every cake leaving our bakery meets Tous les Jours' standards for taste, appearance, and craftsmanship. If you take pride in the details — clean edges, precise piping, thoughtful design — this role is for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Baking & Production Mix, scale, proof, shape, and bake a variety of artisan breads, rolls, croissants, and pastries according to Tous les Jours recipes Operate commercial ovens, mixers, proofers, and dough sheeters safely and efficiently Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure consistent product quality Prepare fillings, toppings, glazes, and cream bases for breads, pastries, and desserts Open the bakery for early morning production shifts and ensure all products are ready before the store opens Cake Decorating & Finishing Assemble, layer, fill, crumb-coat, and ice cakes to Tous les Jours specifications, including fresh cream, buttercream, mousse, and signature cloud cakes Execute smooth finishes, sharp edges, and consistent presentation on every cake Pipe borders, rosettes, script lettering, and decorative details with precision Create custom cake designs based on customer requests, including themed cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and other celebrations Handcraft decorative elements such as sugar flowers, fondant accents, chocolate décor, and fresh fruit finishes as needed Match colors accurately using gel and airbrush techniques Finish pastries and dessert items with attention to visual detail and brand standards General Maintain cake display cases with fresh, visually appealing products throughout the day Prepare fillings, glazes, and cream bases as needed to support cake production Track inventory of decorating supplies (piping tips, food coloring, fondant, boards, boxes) and report restocking needs Follow all food safety and sanitation standards at all times Support and train other team members on decorating basics as needed Wash, rinse, and sanitize all tools, tips, and equipment after each use Assist with scheduled deep cleaning of the decorating station and equipment Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times and wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes appropriate for kitchen environments
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous cake decorating experience required — 1+ year in a professional bakery, patisserie, or high-volume production setting preferred Strong portfolio demonstrating clean finishes, piping skills, and creative custom designs (please attach or link with your application) Skilled with piping bags, spatulas, turntables, airbrush systems, and fondant tools Familiarity with buttercream, fresh cream, mousse, and ganache finishes Ability to translate customer requests into finished designs that match or exceed expectations Excellent color matching, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor control Strong attention to detail and consistent quality standards Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and standing for extended periods Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in warm kitchen conditions Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented with excellent time management Available for morning shifts, weekends, and holidays Food Handler certification required, or willingness to obtain one prior to the start date Formal pastry or baking education is a plus but not required
