Job Description
August First is a beloved bakery and café rooted in the Burlington community
- and we're looking for a Pastry Baker who wants to be part of it. This isn't a heads-down, punch-the-clock kind of job. We want someone who cares about the craft, shows up ready to work, and takes genuine pride in what comes out of the oven. If you're passionate about baking and looking for a place to grow, we'd love to meet you. About the Role You'll primarily own pastry production shifts
- mixing, shaping, scoring, and baking the pastries that Burlington has come to count on. You'll work closely with our Bakery Managers and be part of a collaborative team. Cross-training in bread is part of the deal
- experience with sweets is a plus, but we'll happily teach the right person. What You'll Do Produce high-quality artisan pastries with consistency and care
- mixing, shaping, proofing, and baking Work with and learn from our Bakery Managers to uphold August First's standards and recipes Cross-train in bread baking, supporting the broader bakery team when needed What We're Looking For Some experience in a professional bakery or scratch kitchen A genuine interest in baking and a willingness to keep learning Strong work ethic and the ability to move efficiently and calmly through a busy production environment Physically comfortable with the demands of a bakery•on your feet for long shifts, lifting up to 50 lbs, working in varying temperatures A team-first mentality and solid communication skills Flexibility for early morning shifts and peak seasons Compensation & Benefits $20•23/hour, based on experience Baker's schedule (early morning starts) Paid Time Off Vision & Dental insurance Free baked goods (yes, really) Shift meals Great coffee, always Why August First?
