Position Summary:

The Pastry Cook

+ Baker is responsible for following all Cloudy Cafe s recipes and procedures to assemble, decorate, finish, package, and present baked goods and other items on a daily menu. This position works daily to ensure that fresh baked goods are stocked and ready in the cafe every day. This position is one of teamwork and creativity that works under the leadership of the Kitchen Lead and follows directives from the Owner/Founder, Dionne Himmelfarb. A Cloudy Cafe Pastry Cook

Core Competencies:

Execute the daily production of baked goods to Cloudy Cafe's high standard of quality and recipes.

Complete daily production and other tasks in an efficient and timely fashion.

Show consideration for team members and customers needs by helping when needed and ensuring clear communication in all interactions. Approach tasks with a sense of urgency and high energy. Support team through encouragement and action during shifts. Effectively analyze problems, identify root causes, and present effective solutions. Participates in inventory to maintain budget standards keeping COGs and labor efficient.

Essential Job Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Prepare a variety of baked products and follow standard recipes and production guidelines to ensure consistent product quality. Set up and operate bakery equipment safely and effectively. Monitor oven temperatures, dough fermentation, and bake times to maintain quality standards. Complete the finishing stages of all baked goods such as glazing, decorating, or assembling. Package and prepare baked goods for display or for customer orders in the caf . Set up and operate bakery equipment safely and effectively. Assist in analyzing and troubleshooting any issues with recipes or doughs to adjust where necessary. Support Kitchen Lead in monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, equipment and tools, following all health and safety standards.

Required Skills and Education:

2 years or more experience in production, retail, or restaurant,baking/pastry Food Handler s Permit Able to multitask Possess basic math skills to operate various platforms for basic back of house operations

Physical Demands:

Pastry Cook + Baker is expected to perform job functions with reasonable accommodations.

Physical demands include:

Remain standing in a stationary position and walking throughout the facility for extended periods of time each day. Reach, bend, squat and lift (up to 50lbs); carry 20-50lbs over short distances. Ability to operate large baking equipment to include mixers, bread proofer, a pastry sheeter and oven.

Compensation:

The Pastry Cook + Baker position offers $24-25 an hour plus 40% of tips earned at Cloudy Cafe.
