Meringue Bakery Job Description AM Pastry Chef The primary job for the AM pastry chef is to make sure all pastries, cookies, and savory menu items are executed with consistency. This job requires an early morning start. The hours are It also requires a person who is extremely dependable. This job requires some flexibility in helping with other tasks or staff members during unusually large orders or peak times. This job also requires helping with customer service, answering phones, great time management, and also assisting with the cleanliness of the bakery.

The hours/times are as follows:

Wednesday-Saturday. Most mornings start at 6:00AM, but Saturday hours start at 4:30AM. About 35 each week, although if someone needed the full 40 hours we could find additional job duties to fill more time.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Complete integrity of product Excellent time management skills The ability to execute recipes and procedures with precision Great communication skills The ability to work on time-sensitive orders The ability to delegate tasks and ask for help when needed

Preferred:

Retail baking experience Retail cake decorating experience

Role Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Identifies with, shares in, and displays commitment to Meringue Bakery Is an active partner with all staff and management to enhance communication Maintains a well organized work station Has excellent time management skills Communicates efficiently in the kitchen Keeps personal conversations light and minimal Keeps unsavory language to a minimum NEVER in front of customers Understands that talking in the kitchen can slow down production Finishes key job responsibilities and stays late if necessary Performs other duties as assigned Shares in the responsibility of filling in gaps in shifts that are not part of a routine schedule. This person assists a couple of times a year with filling in for the 3:00 AM lead when they are on vacation. Assists with ordering lists and looks ahead/communicates when non-standard ingredients are low with AMPLE time notice.

Limited but may include cake deliveries, ingredient/store runs

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50lb+ bags Must be able to carry 50 lb+ containers down the steps into the basement The ability to be on your feet for 8+ hours each shift We have a zero-tolerance on-site no drug policy on drugs.
