Job Overview Mad Dogs & Englishmen Coffee Bar—recently named one of Yelp's Top 45 Coffee Bars in the U.S. and honored as Carmel Business of the Year—is a luxury, British-inspired specialty coffee bar located in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea. We serve ultra-premium, single-origin microlot coffee, hand-crafted matcha, artisanal pastries, and provide a warm, elegant, and highly curated guest experience. We are seeking polished, professional Cashiers & Baristas with proven upscale hospitality experience. This means you have worked in elevated cafés, boutique hotels, fine-dining restaurants, luxury retail, or similar guest-focused environments where service standards are exceptionally high. (Applicants with primarily fast-food or big-box retail backgrounds will not be considered for this role.) Duties Oversee daily café operations, including opening, closing, and shift management Ensure all food safety standards and food handling procedures are strictly followed Prepare espresso beverages, teas, matcha, and specialty drinks with precision, artistry, and consistency Provide warm, refined, luxury-level hospitality to every guest Embody the Mad Dogs & Englishmen brand with professionalism, warmth, and confidence What We're Looking For Utilize time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy hours while maintaining quality standards Support ownership with operational projects and seasonal menu development Serve as a working lead barista: pulling shots, steaming milk, preparing matcha, crafting signature beverages Ensure consistent drink quality, recipe execution, and visual presentation Skills Minimum 1-2 years of upscale hospitality experience (boutique café, specialty coffee, luxury hotel, elevated restaurant, fine retail, etc.) Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle diverse guest needs professionally Effective time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities efficiently Knowledge of food safety practices, food preparation techniques, and proper food handling procedures Ability to perform cashiering duties accurately while maintaining a friendly attitude
