Job Description

Job Summary Urth Caffe is seeking a passionate, experienced, and dependable Lead Barista to support daily café operations and lead the barista team. The ideal candidate will prepare high-quality coffee and specialty beverages, provide knowledgeable guest service, support team members, maintain beverage standards, and help ensure an efficient and welcoming café environment. This position is ideal for an experienced barista who enjoys specialty coffee, team leadership, hospitality, and maintaining consistently high standards during busy service periods. Key Responsibilities Lead and support baristas and café team members during daily service. Prepare espresso beverages, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty drinks according to café standards. Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment safely and effectively. Monitor espresso extraction, grind settings, beverage quality, and presentation. Train and coach team members on beverage preparation, recipes, service standards, and café procedures. Welcome guests and provide friendly, knowledgeable, and professional service. Assist guests with coffee selections, menu questions, and beverage recommendations. Operate the POS system and process payments accurately. Maintain consistent beverage quality, portion standards, and presentation. Keep the coffee bar, counters, equipment, and service areas clean and organized. Restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, food items, and other café supplies. Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to management. Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and daily café procedures. Help coordinate workflow and station assignments during busy service periods. Handle guest requests and concerns in a polite and professional manner. Support management with daily operational tasks and team communication. Perform other duties assigned by café management. Requirements Previous barista experience is required; lead or supervisory experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and specialty coffee. Experience operating commercial espresso machines and grinders. Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to train and support other team members. Strong attention to detail and commitment to beverage quality. Basic POS and cash-handling experience. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment. Reliable, punctual, and responsible work ethic. Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods. Preferred Skills Specialty coffee and espresso preparation experience. Knowledge of coffee beans, grind settings, extraction, and brewing methods. Previous Lead Barista or Barista Supervisor experience. Strong guest-service and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask while maintaining beverage quality. Strong organization and time-management skills. Experience training and mentoring baristas. $25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
