Job Summary:

The Barisa and Cafe Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service to, as well as preparing drinks, ingredients for menu items, and bulk food items. This individual will primarily be responsible for servicing the Coffee Bar and will assist with Deli services as needed. They should possess an in-depth knowledge of retail and foodservice duties. Applicant must be available to work weekdays from 5am-1:30pm , mostly weekdays with possible Saturday hours in the future. Hours available will expand to evenings and weekends in the near future. Full time may be available in the future as we expand our hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Service (40%) Greets customers in a professional and friendly manner; Assists customers in locating merchandise while in store; Responds to customer inquiries in person and over the phone; Exercises attention to detail when taking barista or deli orders over the phone; Uses cash register to process sales and issue accurate change and receipts; and Issues customer refunds and credits as necessary with supervisor's approval. Coffee Bar Management (40%) Rings up customer orders and prepare them; Manages inventory including coffee, syrups, milk and related supplies; Places orders to replenish inventory as needed; Sets up and maintains clean, organized service areas; Responds to customer complaints or inquiries; Ensures customers' safety; Provides customers with prompt and courteous service; and Regularly checks in with external and internal vendors. Deli/Cafe Operations (20%) Maintains an accurate cash count of the cash register; Maintains a clean, orderly appearance of the coffee bar, kitchen and deli; Ensures that trash in the coffee bar, kitchen and deli is regularly emptied; Keeps assigned product area organized, ensuring items are dated and stocked according to local food safety standards; and Prepares and distributes all food products and retail food service items. Qualifications/Requirements:

Barista, retail, cashier, or sales experience preferred; Coffee and food preparation experience preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred; California Food Handlers Card or Serve Safe Certificate; Must be at least 18 as we sell alcohol in the stores. Strong customer service skills; Able to effectively communicate with customers; Math skills including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication; Ability to apply discounts and calculate percentages; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Recognizes the importance of hygiene in foodservice environment; Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills; Be a team player; Comfortable working with barista equipment including espresso machine, coffeegrinders, brewers, etc.; Working knowledge of all standard Point of Sale equipment; Working knowledge of all standard equipment used in a restaurant/deli environment; and Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
