Job Description
Karma Kitchen is a small 10 yr. old smoothie/juice bar & eatery looking to hire 1 conscientious & friendly year-round team member to be part of our full service kitchen staff. We are a small family owned business and service a lot of repeat customers from the community and as such, we are looking for a warm, friendly, eager-to-learn team player who can work well with others in close quarters. The juicery is located on the water in downtown Mystic and there is employee parking in back. It's a really nice & peaceful spot with 6 other small, local businesses in the same building. Attention to detail, ability to take instruction, multi-task, and work quickly & calmly during rushes is essential. Prior customer service, nutritional knowledge &/or enthusiasm for plant-based food is desired. This is a dynamic position where you will learn A LOT. Some of the work responsibilities include: DISHES. Put in caps because this task will entail about 1/4 of your shift shared with 1 or 2 team members. Since you are newer, you will be on this more often as you learn. Providing excellent customer service, efficient fulfillment of orders working on the line and also checking them out at register, paying close attention to add-ons/changes and giving them suggestions when asked. Prepping & making all smoothies, smoothie bowls, juices, beverages & food items from our menu (there is a lot of portioning, peeling/cutting of fresh produce) Ability to follow detailed checklists & recipes and ability to take direction & correction gracefully & receptively - as there is a lot to learn. Product stocking, kitchen set-up (opening shift), at least 30 mins. of dishwashing per shift, break-down (closing shift). Keeping kitchen clean & orderly after completion of tasks and in between customer orders/rushes, taking out garbage. Must be able to move 30 - 50 lb. bag of produce carrots into the fridge (on the bottom shelf). This job is not for you if you are: a gossiper, rude to customers, lazy, get easily flustered & stressed during rushes, need to constantly take breaks, can't focus, terrible at multi-tasking or paying attention to details in following recipes. Availability for 2 - 3 four - six hr. weekday shifts and at least 1 weekend day is required. Review after 2 weeks to assess if role is a good fit. Employee discounts offered as well as a shift smoothie. Cash tips paid out weekly & credit card tips are added to direct deposit pay check. •After applying for position through Indeed.com, applicants must fill out application at Karma Kitchen to be considered. We will not reply to any online inquiries. •
