A Nursing Assistant provides hospital and nursing home patients with basic care and assists them with daily activities. Helps patients with dressing, washing, and feeding. May perform basic medical care under the direction of a nurse or other medical professional. These roles typically require completion of a regional agency-approved training program in order to obtain a certification before practicing.

Essential Job Duties :
Assists residents with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting and exercising. Gives treatments, performs tests, carries out procedures and collects specimens as instructed. Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures, and specimens when indicated. Transfers, transports, and escorts residents as needed. Answers signal lights promptly. Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of a State approved nursing assistant training program. Registration with State of Connecticut registry required. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Prior geriatric nursing aide experience is preferred. Ability to legibly track and document care given to each resident.
