Job Description

DRIP St. Pete is looking for an experienced barista and café professional who can bring strong coffee knowledge, café experience, and operational awareness to our team. We are especially interested in candidates with experience as a lead barista, café shift lead, café manager, trainer, or former café/coffee shop owner or operator. This is a hands-on position. You'll work the bar and serve customers while also helping us maintain high standards for espresso, café workflow, food handling, cleanliness, organization, and overall customer experience, and take on our team! DRIP St. Pete combines a coffee-forward café with botanical beverages, locally sourced pastries and café foods, and a curated 21+ retail environment. Strong coffee and café experience is what we're primarily looking for—we can teach the botanical side. Responsibilities Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, teas, kava, kratom tea, and botanical beverages Maintain consistency in espresso preparation, milk steaming, drink presentation, and recipe execution Help maintain an efficient, clean, and well-organized coffee bar Receive and properly handle locally sourced pastries and other prepared café foods Follow proper food storage, refrigeration/freezing, date labeling, FIFO rotation, reheating, presentation, and waste procedures Monitor coffee, beverage, and food quality throughout each shift Help identify workflow issues and suggest practical improvements Assist newer employees with barista skills, café procedures, cleanliness, and customer service Maintain clean, stocked, organized, and visually appealing café and bar areas Assist with opening, closing, stocking, inventory organization, and daily café operations Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer service Learn DRIP's kava, kratom tea, and botanical beverage program Assist customers with curated 21+ retail products, including vape, hemp, mushroom, and alternative wellness products Verify ID and follow all age-restricted sales procedures Support events, customer engagement, and occasional brand/social-media content Take ownership of the condition, appearance, and customer experience of the café during each shift What We're Looking For Professional barista or café experience strongly preferred Lead barista, café management, shift leadership, training, or café ownership experience is a major plus Strong understanding of espresso preparation and commercial coffee equipment Experience with café operations beyond simply making drinks Familiarity with food handling, FIFO, inventory, opening/closing procedures, and café sanitation Strong communication skills and natural customer awareness Clean, organized, and detail-oriented work habits Comfortable working in a social, high-interaction environment Able to recognize what needs to be done without constant supervision Comfortable helping newer employees improve Confident enough to offer ideas while still following established company standards Positive attitude and team-first mindset Previous kava, kratom, hemp, or botanical experience is not required. We can teach that side of the business. We would rather hire someone with strong coffee/café experience and great operational instincts who is interested in learning the botanical side of DRIP. Non-Negotiables Must be 21+ Must be punctual and dependable Must have reliable transportation Must be available for nights, weekends, and key shifts Must be comfortable verifying IDs Must maintain a clean and organized workspace Must be able to stand, move, clean, restock, prep, and serve throughout the shift Must be comfortable receiving feedback and following company standards Must be comfortable working around kava, kratom tea, hemp, vape, mushroom, and other alternative retail products Must represent the DRIP brand professionally in-store and online Our Standard At DRIP, experience means more than knowing how to make a latte. We value people who notice things before they're asked. If the espresso isn't right, fix it. If something is dirty, clean it. If inventory is low, stock it. If food needs to be rotated, rotate it. If a system isn't working, bring us a solution. If another employee needs help, help them. A slower shift means cleaning equipment, restocking, organizing inventory, checking food rotation, learning products, improving displays, preparing for the next rush, and looking for ways to improve the customer experience. The best people here are friendly with customers, fast with tasks, clean behind the bar, dependable with the schedule, and naturally aware of what's happening around them. Compensation & Benefits 15$ + Tips (Most avg - $20+ per Hour). Employee discounts Flexible scheduling Paid training Growth opportunities as DRIP expands Training in coffee, botanical beverages, kava, kratom tea, alternative retail products, and DRIP operations Opportunity to have meaningful input into the café side of a growing company Exceptional candidates with significant café management, ownership, training, or specialty-coffee experience are encouraged to apply.
