Listed pay rate does not include additional tips. This position is primarily for WEEKDAY coverage. Applicants must have consistent daytime availability Tuesday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Weekend availability is preferred but not required.
JOB OVERVIEW
We're looking for a motivated, personable Front of House Team Member to join our café as a Barista. The ideal candidate is a professional and communicative team player with a strong hospitality mindset who takes pride in creating a thoughtful and welcoming experience for every guest. This is a customer-facing, part-time role reporting to management. You'll be responsible for delivering attentive service, preparing beverages to our quality standards, supporting daily café operations, and following all food safety and health code standards.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Beverage Preparation Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, and tea beverages to our recipe and quality standards. Build working knowledge of coffee bean types, brewing techniques, and equipment. Recommend drinks based on customer preferences and dietary needs. Customer Service Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere. Take orders accurately, answer menu questions, and make recommendations. Handle customer concerns promptly and professionally. Point of Sale & Cash Handling Operate the POS system to process orders and payments (cash/credit). Keep the cash drawer organized and balanced, reporting discrepancies to management. Cleanliness & Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized coffee bar, dining area, and equipment. Follow food safety and sanitation procedures. Restock supplies as needed (coffee, milk, syrups, to-go items). Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with teammates to keep service running smoothly. Participate in team meetings and training sessions. Help support and welcome new team members as they train.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic knowledge of coffee drinks and brewing techniques is a plus - not required. Ability to follow instructions and stay focused in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards. Dependable and able to maintain consistent availability. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Willingness to learn and receive feedback.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Consistent weekday daytime availability is required, primarily Tuesday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Weekend availability is preferred but not required. This is an active role - you'll be on your feet for most of the shift and may lift up to 50 lbs at times. You'll work in a lively café and bakery environment with regular customer interaction and hands-on teamwork.
