The Literary Front of House-Cafe and Bar Salt Fork Food Works Champaign, IL Job Details Part-time From $15 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Paid training Qualifications Food service customer order management Café experience Interpersonal skills Attention to detail Guest services Bartending Full Job Description Barista (Café & Bar) - The Literary Hourly | Front of House The Literary runs a combined café and bar and we're looking for Baristas who want to do both. You'll pull shots, mix cocktails, run the register, prep, and help keep the whole space running smoothly. Our standard isn't just "make the drink." It's "make it correctly, safely, consistently, and leave the station ready for the next one." What You'll Do Welcome guests, answer menu questions, and make thoughtful recommendations Take orders and payments accurately on our POS, paying close attention to modifications and allergies Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and other café beverages to recipe Mix cocktails, pour wine and beer, and serve alcohol responsibly, including checking IDs Make syrups, cold brew, batched drinks, and garnishes, and label, date, and store them properly Keep stations stocked and flag low inventory and 86'd items before they become a problem Follow food-safety procedures, including temperature logs, date checks, and allergen protocols Clean as you go, handle FOH dishes, and support the dining room with running and bussing Complete opening and closing checklists and communicate clearly at shift handoffs What We're Looking For Hospitality-minded, reliable, and detail-oriented Comfortable working quickly without cutting corners Willing to learn both café and bar service A team player who spots work that needs doing and jumps in Barista, bartending, or food service experience is a plus, but we'll train the right person BASSET certification required for alcohol service (or willingness to obtain), and applicants must meet legal age requirements for bar duties
Pay:
From $15.00 per hour Expected hours: 12.0 - 25.0 per week
