Delegation Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Shift Lead Barista is responsible for supporting daily store operations while providing an exceptional customer experience and helping lead the team during assigned shifts. In addition to performing all Barista responsibilities, the Shift Lead helps keep the shift organized, delegates tasks, maintains product and drink quality, and ensures Scooter's Coffee standards are consistently followed. The Shift Lead serves as a go-to team member during the shift and is expected to lead by example through reliability, positivity, teamwork, and strong customer service. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform all duties and responsibilities of the Barista position. Lead by example and demonstrate Scooter's Coffee core values of Integrity, Love, Humility, and Courage . Help direct and support Baristas throughout the shift to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Delegate cleaning, stocking, prep, and other daily tasks among team members. Monitor drink preparation and ensure orders are made accurately and according to Scooter's Coffee recipes and quality standards. Assist team members with correcting or remaking drinks when necessary. Maintain speed, accuracy, and excellent customer service, especially during peak periods. Count down registers and complete required cash-handling procedures accurately at the end of assigned shifts. Follow proper cash management procedures and report any discrepancies to management. Pull food and other required products from the freezer according to store needs and established thawing procedures. Monitor product levels and ensure ingredients, food, cups, and other supplies are properly stocked for the current and upcoming shifts. Assign and verify completion of opening, closing, cleaning, and shift tasks. Ensure workstations, equipment, lobby, drive-thru, and other store areas remain clean and organized. Help maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements. Address customer concerns professionally and involve management when necessary. Communicate important shift updates, operational concerns, inventory needs, employee issues, or equipment problems to management. Help train and support new Baristas and reinforce proper procedures and Scooter's Coffee standards. Promote teamwork and help maintain a positive, respectful, and productive work environment. Ensure team members remain on task and store expectations are followed throughout the shift. Qualifications Previous Barista, customer service, restaurant, or food service experience preferred. Leadership experience preferred but not required. Reliable, punctual, and able to lead by example. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to confidently delegate tasks and provide direction to team members. Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding drink quality, cash handling, and food safety. Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable providing respectful feedback and correcting issues when necessary. Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions during assigned shifts. Availability for early mornings, weekends, holidays, opening, and/or closing shifts as needed. Work Environment This position requires standing for extended periods, frequent use of coffee, espresso, and blending equipment, and the ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Shift Leads are expected to remain active and engaged throughout their shifts while balancing customer service, Barista responsibilities, and leadership duties.
