Overview We are an exciting new small bakery cafe opening our doors to the Tangletown community later this Fall! Join our vibrant team as a Barista / Customer Service Associate and become the heart of a lively café environment! We are passionate about serving a small brunch line, fresh, artisanal baked goods, alongside exceptional craft coffee. In this role, you will produce delicious coffee, tea and unique beverages while delivering exceptional customer service, and ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued. We are building a warm, energetic team from the ground up, and we are looking for skilled baristas who take pride in their craft to help us create a memorable experience for our guests. Duties Beverage Crafting:
Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, teas, and specialty drinks, adhering to quality and presentation standards.
Customer Service:
Welcome customers warmly, take accurate orders, handle the point-of-sale (POS) system, and provide a friendly, welcoming environment. Handle cash transactions accurately by processing payments, giving correct change, and balancing cash drawers at shift end.
Bakery and Savory Food Support:
Develop a strong knowledge of our baked goods and savory menu. Provide friendly, attentive customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and offering product recommendations. Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling snacks or light food items in accordance with food safety guidelines.
Time Management:
Multi-task efficiently during morning rushes to keep ticket times low while keeping the workspace organized.
Cafe Maintenance:
Maintain cleanliness of the café area by cleaning equipment, counters, tables, and food handling surfaces to ensure food safety standards are met. Keep areas clean such as coffee bar, equipment, condiment stations, seating areas and bathrooms throughout the day. Skills Proven experience as a barista or in a café environment with knowledge of beverage service and drink preparation techniques. Familiarity with POS systems like Square POS Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests. Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and transaction processing. Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations. Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during high-volume periods. Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently to maintain a hygienic workspace and café environment.
