Job Summary Looking for a professional service worker interested in specialty coffee for an established and busy cafe in Asbury Park. Job requires prior customer service experience as well as a basic knowledge of specialty coffee (barista experience a plus, but not required). Shifts are typically 6.5 hours long. The base wage is $15/ hour plus tips. Typically, with tips the hourly wage works out to $35/ hour if you look at it from a 52 week average, but certainly can exceed in the busier months - that takes into consideration cash tips as well as credit cards. Duties Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks with precision and flair Dial-in espresso Engage with customers warmly, taking orders accurately and providing friendly, attentive service Operate POS system - we use Square Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food preparation stations and seating areas Handle cash, credit card payments, and perform cashiering duties with integrity and accuracy Follow food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures to ensure quality and compliance Assist in food preparation tasks such as assembling pastries or light snacks as needed Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly without compromising quality Support inventory management by restocking supplies and monitoring product freshness Uphold health standards by adhering to sanitation guidelines and completing necessary cleaning routines Requirements Positive attitude a must Willingness to cover for your colleagues Previous barista experience or background in coffee service is preferred; enthusiasm for learning is essential Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and positively with diverse guests Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and transaction accuracy Knowledge of food safety standards, food handling procedures, and proper sanitation practices Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during peak hours Ability to stand for extended periods, walk comfortably around the café, and lift moderate loads when necessary Experience in food preparation or food service environments is advantageous but not mandatory; training provided for the right candidate A positive attitude, team spirit, and eagerness to contribute to a lively café atmosphere
