Owners Position Summary The Barista Shift Lead is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the café operates efficiently every day. This role combines hands-on barista responsibilities with leadership, including managing staff schedules, maintaining inventory, coaching team members, and ensuring operational excellence. Maintain a positive, team-first culture. Scheduling & Team Management Create and manage weekly staff schedules. Coordinate shift swaps and time-off requests. Communicate schedule changes promptly. Monitor attendance, punctuality, and overall team performance. Inventory & Ordering Manage café inventory levels. Conduct weekly inventory counts. Track product usage and identify waste. Ensure all products are rotated using FIFO (First In, First Out). Organize storage areas and maintain accurate inventory records. Barista Responsibilities Prepare espresso beverages, teas, smoothies, juices, and specialty drinks to recipe standards. Deliver warm, personalized customer service. Maintain beverage quality and consistency. Operate the POS system accurately. Keep the café clean, stocked, and organized throughout each shift. Operations Maintain health and food safety standards. Ensure equipment is clean and functioning properly. Report maintenance issues immediately. Assist with merchandising and retail displays. Support café events and special promotions. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and guest experience. Qualifications 2+ years of coffee shop or hospitality experience preferred. Previous leadership or shift lead experience preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills. Experience creating staff schedules. Experience managing inventory and placing orders. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
