Join the Jae Café Family Jae Café is preparing to open in a prime Center City Philadelphia location, and we're looking for experienced, energetic and dependable people to help us build something special from the beginning. We are creating more than a place to grab coffee. We want Jae Café to be a warm, welcoming neighborhood destination where customers receive great drinks, excellent service and an experience that makes them want to return. Our concept is similar to a modern coffee shop such as Starbucks or Dunkin' rather than a traditional restaurant. We will serve coffee, espresso beverages, lattes, cappuccinos, teas, iced beverages, pastries, bagels and other café and grab-and-go items. Previous barista or café experience is strongly preferred. What You'll Do As a Barista/Café Team Member, you'll play an important role in creating the Jae Café experience.

Responsibilities include:

Welcoming customers with friendly, professional service Taking orders accurately and efficiently Preparing hot and iced coffee beverages Preparing espresso shots, lattes, cappuccinos and specialty drinks Steaming and frothing milk properly Preparing hot and iced teas Customizing beverages according to customer requests Heating and serving approved café items such as bagels and pastries Operating espresso machines, coffee grinders and brewing equipment Operating our Toast POS system Processing cash and electronic payments accurately Keeping the café, counters and beverage stations clean and organized Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work surfaces Restocking milk, syrups, cups, lids, coffee, pastries and other supplies Monitoring product quality and freshness Following food-safety and sanitation procedures Completing opening and/or closing responsibilities Supporting your coworkers during busy periods Helping us provide a consistently excellent customer experience Who We're Looking For We'd love to meet you if you're someone who is:

You're interested in growing with a new café rather than simply clocking in and out. Qualifications Previous café, coffee shop or barista experience is strongly preferred . Experience with espresso machines, grinders, milk steaming and specialty beverage preparation is a major plus.

Compensation $17-$19 per hour + tips Starting pay within the range will be based on relevant café/barista experience, skills and qualifications. Duties Prepare and serve a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, including specialty coffees, teas, and smoothies, ensuring consistency and quality. Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS to process retail sales transactions accurately and efficiently. Engage with customers in a friendly manner, taking orders, answering questions about menu items, and providing exceptional service. Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including food prep stations, seating areas, and equipment, adhering to food safety standards. Handle cash transactions with precision, process payments, give accurate change, and balance cash drawers at shift end. Assist in food handling and preparation tasks to support quick service during busy periods. Manage time effectively to ensure timely beverage delivery and smooth workflow during peak hours. Requirements Proven experience as a barista or in a café environment with strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques. Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for sales processing. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests. Basic math skills for cash handling, processing transactions, and giving accurate change. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail. Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy shifts. Nice-to-have qualifications include previous experience in retail sales transactions, beverage service expertise, food industry knowledge, and familiarity with cleaning protocols specific to food service environments.
