The Barista position at The Monument is responsible for preparing and serving coffee and other beverages to guests in a professional and efficient manner. This role supports a wide range of events, including concerts, sporting events, and community functions, and requires a strong focus on customer service, accuracy, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty drinks. Follow recipes and presentation standards to ensure quality and consistency. Greet customers warmly, take their orders and provide recommendations based on their preferences. Engage with customers to enhance their experience and ensure satisfaction. Set up and break down the mobile coffee stand, including transporting equipment and supplies to various locations within the venue. Keep the coffee bar, equipment, and surrounding areas clean and organized. Regularly sanitize work areas and equipment to meet health and safety standards. Restock ingredients, cups, and other supplies throughout the shift; assist with inventory counts and relay inventory needs to manager. Prepare, handle, and store food and beverages according to established safety and sanitation guidelines.

May support additional food and beverage operations, including catering, concessions, and banquet service, as needed.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age or older, required. Previous experience in a barista or customer service role is preferred. Familiarity with different coffee types, brewing methods and equipment operation. Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with customer and provide excellent service. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to work various shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Compliant with South Dakota Labor Laws.

Work Environment:

Duties are performed in fast-paced work environment (bar, banquet, and concession areas) both indoor and outside with exposure to high levels of noise and large crowds. Standing and walking for long periods of time, including navigating stairs or ramps. with loud noise levels and large crowds. Occasional contact with outdoor elements near entrances or exterior areas. Exposure to flashing lights, amplified sound, theatrical effects, and pyrotechnics during certain performances or events.
