Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, technically skilled Specialty Barista to join our team. This is not a "button-pushing" role; we are looking for a true coffee professional who understands the science and craft behind premium espresso extraction. The ideal candidate possesses an advanced sensory palate and can independently "dial in" espresso by adjusting grinder burr mechanics, controlling dose/yield variables, and evaluating flavor profiles through rigorous tasting. You will be responsible for maintaining our high standards of beverage quality, caring for top-tier commercial equipment, and ensuring an exceptional, luxury hospitality experience for every guest. Key Responsibilities Espresso Calibration & Dialing-InPerform morning and mid-day espresso calibration, adjusting commercial grinders to account for temperature, humidity, and degassing changes. Manage extraction variables (dose weight, liquid yield, and shot time) to hit precise brew recipes. Conduct routine sensory analysis (tasting shots) to evaluate acidity, sweetness, balance, and body, making immediate mechanical adjustments to fix channeling, under-extraction, or over-extraction.
Craft & Service Delivery:
Maintain precise, flat, and consistent tamping techniques to ensure clean extraction. Steam milk to perfect micro-foam consistency for a variety of traditional and signature beverages, executing clean latte art. Engage with guests with a warm, authentic, and knowledgeable approach, confidently explaining coffee origins, flavor notes, and preparation methods. Equipment Care & MaintenanceOperate and maintain premium commercial espresso machines (e.g., multi-boiler platforms) and precision grinders with extreme care. Perform daily backflushing, group head cleaning, and steam wand sanitization.

Monitor equipment performance and immediately report any technical issues to management.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a fast-paced, third-wave/specialty coffee environment handling manual or semi-automatic commercial equipment.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of the extraction process, coffee-to-water ratios, and the physical mechanics of coffee grinders.
Sensory Skills:
A developed palate capable of identifying tasting notes, defects, balance, and extraction quality.
Preferred Credentials:
Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Barista Intermediate or Professional certifications are highly preferred but not required if equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
