Job Description

About Aviator Coffees & Teas We're a family-owned craft roastery that's been roasting and serving coffee since 2012. The Hangar is our walk-up and drive-through stand at the Kingston Ferry Terminal on the Edmonds-Kingston route — our beans are roasted separately at our roastery on Bainbridge Island. Our customers are ferry commuters running on a schedule and weekend tourists exploring the area. The commuters move fast, and so do we — during ferry windows we run consistent volume with a small crew and no room for a slow line. Why This Role Exists This is a year-round position, not a summer role. We need reliable weekday coverage that holds through fall and winter, after our seasonal summer crew rolls off. We're hiring now, and the right candidate can start right away rather than waiting for the season to change. What You'll Actually Do Everyone starts on register. You'll move to the bar and become a barista through our in-house training program, Flight School, as you build reliability and skill. Run the register — accurate, fast transactions under pressure, especially during morning ferry windows Keep the line moving toward our sub-30-second service standard — ferry departures don't wait Stock, restock, and keep the stand clean and organized throughout your shift Communicate supply needs and shift issues same-day Once bar-certified: pull espresso shots and build drinks to spec on our La Marzocco Strada AV Complete Flight School training stages (Ground School → First Flight → Bar Certified) to advance
What We're Looking For Required:
You live on the Kitsap Peninsula side — Kingston, Poulsbo, Bremerton, Silverdale, Port Orchard, Suquamish, or Bainbridge Island — and can get to Kingston without depending on the ferry. This is a hard requirement, not a preference: ferry unpredictability has cost us shifts in the past. Reliable — on time, every shift, without a reminder Available weekday mornings on an ongoing, non-seasonal basis Comfortable working fast in a small space with a small team
Preferred:
Prior barista, cashier, or food service experience Familiarity with espresso equipment Not required — we will train the right person through
Flight School:
Coffee or espresso experience Career Path New hires start as cashiers, no coffee experience required. As you prove reliable, you move onto the bar as a barista through Flight School certification. Further advancement — including lead and shift-supervisor roles — is available to people who stick around and perform.
Pay:
$17.13 - $20.50 per hour
Benefits:
Employee discount Flexible schedule
Work Location:
In person
