Position Summary:

The Barista is responsible for providing the customers of Cloudy Cafe with a joyous hospitality experience. This position works daily to prepare and serve a variety of high-quality espresso-based drinks as well as other brewed beverages. This position is one of teamwork and communication that works under the leadership of the Lead Barista and follows directives from the Owner/Founder, Dionne Himmelfarb. The Barista is enthusiastic, personable, attentive, and communicative. This position requires a strong sense of urgency, the ability to multitask, a fine eye for detail, and most importantly a passion for great customer experience.

Essential Job Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Set up and break down cafe for each shift. Arrange merchandise and coffee displays and manage product presentation. Prepare and serve espresso beverages as well as brewed coffee. Educate customers on all menu offerings, including seasonal specials, espresso beverages, and educate coffee specifics. Take customer orders accurately and perform basic cash-handling procedures. Deliver dishes and beverages to customers within the caf while ensuring the contents are accurate to the customer s order and presented to Cloudy Cafe standards. Monitor stock levels for products, ingredients, and retail. Follow all food and safety guidelines for handling and storing food and beverage products. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all health and safety standards. Follow all closing duties including cash reconciliation, prep for next day s service, and securing the premises.

Required Skills and Education:

2 or more years in the hospitality industry 1 year of barista experience Food Handler s Permit MAST Certification Ability to multitask Possess basic math skills required for operating caf platforms Ability to navigate POS systems and tablets

Physical Demands:

The Barista is expected to perform job functions with reasonable accommodations.

Remain standing in a stationary position and walking throughout the facility for extended periods of time each day Reach, bend, squat and lift (up to 50lbs); carry 20-50lbs over short distances

Compensation:

The Barista position offers $21.30 an hour plus 60% of tips earned at Cloudy Cafe.
