Bartender Full-Time | Downtown Phoenix OR Tempe, AZ Love great tequila, mezcal, and the people drinking it? Taco Chelo is looking for full-time bartenders to bring our brand-new craft cocktail program to life at our award-winning taquerías in Downtown Phoenix and Tempe.

ABOUT TACO CHELO

Taco Chelo is a taquería in Downtown Phoenix and Tempe, built as a collaboration between Chef Suny Santana, artist Gennaro Garcia, and restaurateur Aaron Chamberlin. We are named for Chef Suny's mother, Consuelo, nicknamed "Chelo," whose from-scratch recipes from Monterrey, Mexico are at the center of our menu. Gennaro's artwork fills both restaurants, so every visit feels like a little bit of Mexico. We just took home the Best Taco Award at the 2026 Taco Festival and we are not slowing down! We source native heirloom corn directly from small farmers in Mexico through our partnership with Somos Maíz and nixtamalize it on site every day for hand-pressed tortillas. Our new craft cocktail menu was designed by Jose Luis Leon, co-founder of Mexico City's Licorería Limantour, a regular on the World's 50 Best Bars list.

THE ROLE

Our bartenders are the face of the restaurant. You will make and serve drinks from a cocktail menu built by one of the most respected bar minds in Mexico, guide guests through our agave spirits, and keep the bar fast, clean, and welcoming from lunch through late night.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits to our recipes and presentation standards Guide guests through the cocktail menu and our tequila and mezcal selection, and suggest pairings with our tacos Deliver warm, attentive hospitality at the bar, at the counter, and on the patio Run happy hour and high-volume shifts while keeping service speed and quality high Set up, stock, and break down the bar, including garnishes, batched ingredients, and glassware Ring orders and handle payments accurately in Toast Serve alcohol responsibly, check IDs, and follow all Arizona liquor laws Keep the bar clean and organized and follow food safety standards Help with bar inventory counts and let the manager know when product is running low

WHAT YOU BRING

Bartending experience preferred, but we will train great employees! Maricopa County food handler card, or willingness to obtain one Must be at least 19 years old to serve, per state law Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to stand for a full shift and lift up to 50 pounds A friendly, team-first attitude and the ability to stay calm when the bar is three deep

NICE TO HAVE

Knowledge of tequila, mezcal, and Mexican spirits Craft cocktail experience Bilingual in English and Spanish Experience with Toast

POS PAY, PERKS, AND SCHEDULE

Pay:

Based on Experience Staff meals: 50% discount during shift

Schedule:

Full-time. Evenings, weekends, and some holidays required.
