Company Overview Alpine Hills Tennis & Swimming Club is a private, member-owned facility nestled in the scenic surroundings of Portola Valley, California. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional recreational experiences and fostering a vibrant community atmosphere. Overview About the Position Alpine Hills Tennis & Swimming Club is seeking an experienced, professional, and hospitality-focused Lead Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team. The Lead Bartender is a hands-on leadership position responsible for daily bar operations, beverage quality, member service, staff support, inventory control, and event execution. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits and takes pride in providing exceptional service in a professional private-club environment.
Important:
This is aNON-TIPPED
position. The Lead Bartender receives an hourly wage and does not participate in tips, gratuities, or tip pooling. Key Responsibilities- Lead daily bar operations and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar.
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and specialty beverages.
- Provide friendly, professional, and personalized service to club members and guests.
- Lead by example and support, train, and coach bartenders and bar staff.
- Assist with opening, closing, side work, and daily bar procedures.
- Maintain beverage quality, consistency, presentation, and portion control.
- Monitor inventory, product rotation, waste, and beverage costs.
- Assist with member events, private parties, tournaments, and special functions.
- Prepare event bars, specialty cocktails, batches, garnishes, glassware, and beverage stations.
- Operate the POS accurately and follow club cash-handling procedures.
- Communicate member requests, service concerns, and operational needs to management.
- Follow all responsible alcohol-service, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Assist management with improving beverage service, cocktails, procedures, and overall member experience. Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience required; Lead Bartender or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lead, train, and support a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional, dependable, positive, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and remain calm in a busy environment.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
- Current alcohol-service certification preferred/required.
Compensation Hourly Pay:
$28 - $32 per hourNON-TIPPED POSITION
