We are seeking a friendly and attentive Server/Bartender hybrid to join our team at a brand new British pub located in the heart of Sacramento, CA. As a Server/Bartender, you will play a vital role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests, ensuring they have an exceptional experience that reflects our friendly pub culture. Your genuine passion for providing excellent customer service and your knowledge of British cuisine and beverages will contribute to the overall success of our establishment.

Bear and Crown is a brand new British pub opening in Old Sacramento this summer. We will offer a modern California spin on a traditional pub experience aimed at both out-of-town visitors and Sacramento locals.

Responsibilities:

Greet and welcome guests as they enter the pub with a warm and friendly demeanor, creating a positive first impression. Present menus and provide detailed information about the various British dishes, including traditional favorites like fish and chips, shepherd's pie, and bangers and mash. Take accurate food and drink orders, paying close attention to special requests and dietary requirements. Deliver orders to tables promptly and accurately, ensuring each dish is presented in an appetizing manner. Provide recommendations on beer, cocktails, and other beverages from our diverse selection of British and local options. Assist guests in making choices that enhance their dining experience, including pairing food and drinks. Ensure a clean and organized dining environment by resetting tables and maintaining cleanliness throughout the pub. Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly, striving to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction. Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely service, communicating any changes or modifications to orders. Upsell additional items such as desserts, appetizers, and special promotions to increase sales and enhance the guest experience. Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale system and handle cash transactions responsibly. Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures. Assist in the setup and preparation of the pub for opening and closing shifts.

Requirements & Skills:

Proven experience as a Server in a restaurant or pub setting, with a strong emphasis on customer service. Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, outgoing personality. A genuine passion for British cuisine, including a basic understanding of traditional dishes and their ingredients. Knowledge of British beverages, particularly ales and beers, and the ability to recommend suitable pairings. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly. Ability to handle guest inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner. Basic math skills for accurately processing payments and making change. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. High school diploma or equivalent; additional culinary or hospitality education is a plus.
