$19.61 per hour, plus tipsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 21 years old Minimum of three years of professional bartending experience Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, mixed drinks, beer, wine and standard pours Current California ABC Responsible Beverage Service certification, or ability to obtain it before beginning scheduled bar shifts Current California Food Handler Card, or ability to obtain one before beginning scheduled shifts Willingness to complete all legally required workplace training, including sexual-harassment prevention training Experience checking identification and serving alcohol responsibly Comfortable using a point-of-sale system and accurately handling cash and credit-card transactions Dependable, punctual and able to work responsibly with limited supervision Friendly, professional and confident when interacting with customers Able to remain calm, organised and efficient during busy shifts Flexible availability is preferredSTRICT NO-DRINKING-WHILE-ON-DUTY POLICY
Employees are not permitted to consume alcohol at any time during their scheduled shift, including during breaks. Shift drinks and drinking behind the bar are not permitted. Employees must arrive fit for duty and remain sober for the entirety of their shift. This is a hands-on bartending position. Bartenders are responsible for much more than preparing drinks. Sutter Station does not always have a barback or separate cleaning crew, so every bartender must be willing and able to complete all opening, closing, cleaning and stocking duties associated with the shift.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Preparing and serving cocktails, beer, wine and non alcoholic beverages Providing friendly and attentive customer service Checking identification and following all responsible service requirements Setting up, stocking and breaking down the bar Restocking liquor, beer, wine, ice, glassware and other supplies Washing and polishing glassware Cleaning bar equipment, counters, sinks, coolers and service areas Sweeping, mopping, removing trash and completing general cleaning including bathrooms Keeping customer and employee areas clean, organised and presentable Completing opening, closing and daily side-work checklists Accurately handling payments and balancing the register Monitoring inventory and informing management when supplies are low Working independently when a barback or cleaning crew is not scheduledPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Standing and walking for shifts of six hours or longer Frequently bending, reaching, twisting and moving throughout the bar Safely lifting, carrying and maneuvering ice bins, cases, trash and bar supplies Repeatedly gripping, pouring, shaking, stirring and handling bottles, glassware and bar tools Working in a busy environment with wet surfaces, noise and limited space Please bring your résumé, availability and valid physical photo ID.
