SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Barback is responsible for supporting bartenders in delivering exceptional guest service by ensuring the bar is fully stocked, clean, and organized at all times. This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient bar operations by restocking supplies, preparing garnishes, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with service needs in accordance with PUBLIC's standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Be an ambassador for PUBLIC by meeting and exceeding PUBLIC core objectives and values. Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional, and efficient service. Support bartenders by restocking liquor, beer, wine, glassware, ice and bar supplies throughout service. Prepare garnishes, juices, and bar ingredients according to standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar stations, storage areas, and equipment at all times. Provide recommendations and upsell beverages to enhance the guest experience. Ensure bar setup is fully stocked, organized, and ready for service. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, tools, and equipment at all times. Remove glassware and debris from bar areas and ensure proper cleaning and polishing of glassware. Ensure bar setup is fully stocked, organized, and ready for service. Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating inventory. Assist bartenders with service needs to ensure efficient and timely guest service. Perform opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning tasks. Maintain compliance with all health, safety and sanitation standards. Collaborate with team members and provide lateral service to support overall operations. Follow directions from supervisors and maintain positive working relationships. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Excellent communication and communication skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high volume environment. Strong attention to detail and organization. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry items up to 50lbs. Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions. Ability to work under time pressure during peak service hours, including weekends and holidays.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment preferred. Must possess a valid California Food Handler Card or be able to obtain one within the required time frame.
