Bartender — High Volume / Signature Cocktails Proper Bar | Washington, D.C. Proper Bar is seeking an experienced, polished, and hospitality-driven Bartender to join our team. Proper Bar is a New American restaurant and bar in the heart of Washington, D.C., offering elevated American bistro cuisine, signature craft cocktails, live entertainment, and timeless hospitality. We are looking for bartenders who can deliver an exceptional guest experience while thriving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is confident behind the bar, knowledgeable about classic and contemporary cocktails, and understands that great bartending is as much about hospitality as it is about making drinks.

Candidates should have:

2+ years of bartending experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant or upscale bar Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and classic cocktails Experience executing craft and signature cocktail programs Excellent guest-service and communication skills Ability to work quickly, cleanly, and accurately during high-volume service Professional appearance and positive attitude Strong teamwork and attention to detail Ability to maintain proper bar setup, organization, sanitation, and closing standards Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays Experience with high-volume nightlife, brunch, or upscale dining is a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES

Bartenders are responsible for providing warm, professional, and efficient service while consistently executing Proper Bar's beverage program. Responsibilities include preparing cocktails to specification, providing knowledgeable recommendations, maintaining an organized bar, handling guest transactions accurately, completing opening and closing duties, and working closely with the service and management teams. We are looking for individuals who can build relationships with guests, create energy at the bar, and contribute to a strong team culture.
