Min Hourly Rate $15.05 (Standard); $14.05 (Non-Urban); $16.30 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.50 (Standard); $21.00 (Non-Urban); $22.00 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Baro Assistant Editor for the Orange Media Network at Oregon State University (OSU). The OMN Assistant Editor will work in collaboration with the editor-in-chief of The Daily Barometer to coordinate and produce content for the publication and various online platforms including dailybarometer. Students in this role will develop these essential skills for future employment:munication, critical thinking, professionalism. The Assistant Editor employment dates are as follows:

In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below:
Communication, Critical Thinking, Professionalism, Position Duties Responsibilities:
Responsible for curating, pitching, assigning, editing and reporting stories for The Daily Barometer, both in and online, in a timely manner (stories will include investigations, cover stories, hard news, breaking news and relevant feature stories). Assist in ensuring that all students who submit articles, photos, podcasts, cartoons and video receive coaching and feedback prior to publishing, so they can learn and improve Assist inpleting editions by deadline Be available for flexible hours, including nights, weekends and academic breaks Plan and hold weekly all-staff meetings, in partnership with the News Editor, to assign tasks and oversee other activity as needed Assistant Editor will do readouts and payroll for all non-timely news, as well as breaking news as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief Post daily to The Daily Barometer social media accounts, under the direction of the EIC and marketing Communication Respond to emails, messages, team chats and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN Ensure you are using, checking and responding to project management platform (Basecamp, Discord, etc.) Work 10 regular in-office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of these hours should be during regular business hours (8 a.m.•5 p.m., Monday•Friday).
