POSITION SUMMARY

To ensure the safety and cleanliness of the barn and the surrounding areas. To be an assistant to the Horse Barn Program Coordinator. Accountable to the Horse Barn Program Coordinator and the Executive Director. Seasonal position typically April to October.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Feed in the morning if you are first one at the barn and fill water buckets.
• Keep the outside water troughs clean and full.
• Notify Horse Barn Coordinator immediately if something is unusual or atypical with the animals.
• Clean stalls/appropriately bed each horse.
• Groom horses and assist in preparing them for rides.
• Sweep, dust, cobweb and wipe off gates.
• Keep barn office swept and cobwebs down.
• Keep manure cleaned up.
• Bring in or turn out horses needed each day.
• Provide basic riding instructions to all guests before, during and after scheduled rides.
• Be a personable, informative guide to all guests.
• Assist Barn Director and Program Director with projects as needed.
• All other duties and requested by the Barn Director and Program Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficient horsemanship skills and riding ability.
• Knowledge of horse care and riding.
• Understanding of and ability to operate a barn facility.
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
• Driver's license.
• 18 yrs. and Over
• Two years of experience preferred.

Seasonal, PT, $13/hr.
