$8/hr + tips Job Summary We are seeking a driven and dependable Barback to join the Opus bar team and help ensure our bar operates smoothly, efficiently, and at the highest standard. This role is the backbone of the bar—keeping it stocked, clean, and set up for success so our bartenders can focus on delivering an elevated cocktail experience. The ideal candidate brings a calm, cool demeanor under pressure, takes pride in the details, and understands that seamless bar operations are inseparable from an exceptional guest experience. Key Responsibilities Wash, polish, and maintain all glassware to an impeccable standard throughout the shift. Prepare garnishes, bar prep, and mise en place in support of the bartending team before and during service. Haul, break down, and replenish ice throughout service to ensure the bar never runs short. Restock all bar supplies—spirits, mixers, beer, wine, glassware, and consumables—proactively and without being prompted. Maintain constant cleanliness and organization of the bar top, back bar, speed rail, and all service areas. Reset and refresh the bar between covers and throughout service, ensuring a polished presentation at all times. Support bartenders by anticipating needs, retrieving product, and keeping the operation moving during high-volume periods. Interact with guests in a warm, professional, and composed manner consistent with the Opus brand and elevated cocktail bar environment. Assist with bar opening and closing duties, including deep cleaning, inventory checks, and supply organization. Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards. Qualifications & Experience 1-2 years of experience in a bar or restaurant environment; upscale or craft cocktail bar experience preferred. Familiarity with bar operations, glassware types, and basic spirits knowledge a strong plus. Demonstrated ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. RAMP certification or equivalent responsible alcohol service training preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire. Food handler certification (ServSafe or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire. Required Skills & Attributes Calm, cool, and composed demeanor—able to perform under pressure without sacrificing quality or professionalism. Strong work ethic with a hustle mentality and a proactive, self-starting approach to every shift. Meticulous attention to detail in cleanliness, organization, and bar presentation. Team-first attitude with a genuine desire to support the bartenders and broader FOH team. Comfortable and confident interacting with guests in an elevated, guest-facing bar environment. Excellent stamina and physical endurance—this role requires constant movement, lifting up to 50 lbs, and extended time on your feet. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
