Job Description
Job Summary voco Moab is seeking an experienced Lead Bartender / Bar Supervisor to help establish and manage the daily operation of our new restaurant bar. We are looking for someone who is more than a skilled bartender. The ideal candidate will have strong mixology knowledge and experience with bar setup, inventory control, drink costing, staff training, Utah alcohol regulations, and guest service. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable hospitality professional who is ready to take ownership of the bar operation and help create a memorable experience for our hotel and restaurant guests. Responsibilities Prepare and serve cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages Help develop a simple, attractive, and profitable cocktail menu Create standardized recipes with exact measurements Calculate beverage costs and recommend appropriate selling prices Establish bar opening and closing procedures Complete liquor, beer, wine, and supply inventory Assist with ordering and maintaining proper stock levels Control over-pouring, waste, spills, and inventory discrepancies Keep the bar clean, organized, stocked, and inspection-ready Train restaurant employees on beverage service and menu knowledge Verify identification and follow all Utah alcohol-service regulations Recognize intoxication and refuse service professionally when necessary Process cash and credit-card payments accurately through the POS system Assist with bar promotions, seasonal drinks, and special events Deliver friendly and professional service to hotel and restaurant guests Work cooperatively with management, servers, kitchen staff, and front-desk employees Required Qualifications Minimum of two years of restaurant bartending experience Strong cocktail and mixology knowledge Experience preparing classic and specialty cocktails Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and responsible alcohol service Understanding of inventory control, portion control, and waste reduction Strong guest-service and communication skills Dependable, organized, punctual, and detail-oriented Ability to work independently and take ownership of the bar Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Must meet all legal requirements to serve alcohol in Utah Must complete approved Utah alcohol-server training before beginning alcohol-service duties Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a lead bartender, bar supervisor, or bar manager Experience opening or organizing a new restaurant bar Experience developing cocktail menus and calculating drink costs Experience ordering alcohol and conducting inventory counts Experience training bartenders or restaurant servers Previous hotel, resort, or upscale restaurant experience Familiarity with Utah DABS requirements Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds Ability to bend, reach, and work behind a busy bar Benefits Tips in addition to hourly compensation, where applicable IHG employee hotel discounts Supportive and professional work environment Opportunity to help build and lead a new bar operation Opportunities for professional growth and additional responsibilities If you are an experienced bartender who enjoys creating excellent drinks, developing organized bar operations, and providing memorable guest experiences, we encourage you to apply.
