Summary of Functions:
The Elwha River Casino bartender is a professional, high-energy person with excellent communication skills to serve classical cocktails and exciting new beverages to our customers. The bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food. You will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties. To succeed as a bartender, you should have a neat appearance and an engaging, friendly personality. You should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.
Accountability:
Reports Director of Facilities/FOH & Bar Duties and Responsibilities:
Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking food and drink orders. Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative cocktails Understanding of unique and complementary flavor pairings Developing new cocktail recipes. Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials. Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers. Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol. Accountability for inventory of supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked. Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations. Responsible processing of cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register. Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None MinimumQualifications:
Minimum age requirement of 21 years or older High School diploma or GED A minimum of 2 years of service in a high volume bar and grill setting. Work independently Able to handle stressful situations Knowledge of modern POS systems Keep confidentiality of all activities that are within the Elwha River Casino. This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing, criminal history background and credit check which may include fingerprinting.
Certificates, Licenses, Regulations:
A valid gaming license from the Lower Elwha Tribal Gaming Commission. A valid Washington State driver's license. Acquire a Clallam County Food Handlers Card Completion of BSA Title 31 Training Acquire Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST)
Permit Physical Demands:
Requires good physical stamina, as it involves a great deal of walking, standing, lifting at least 65#, bending, and kneeling. Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and special event as needed. Must be able to stand-in for co-workers while they are out on leave. Able to perform duties with hot to normal to cold temperature ranges. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work in an environment that is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet and /or humid conditions, work environmental factors that include noise, music, electronic sounds and running equipment.
Travel Requirement:
Some travel is required while attending food shows and training.
