Job Description
Karsten is in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The club has recently conducted a complete renovation of the golf course, which is now designed by Andrew Green. Formerly Karsten Creek, the club is rebranding; we have a new name, a new logo, and a new golf course. Karsten is a high-end, private golf club that will offer exceptional service to its members and guests. Karsten is also the home of the Oklahoma State University men's and women's golf teams.
Job Summary:
As an Outside Services Attendant at Karsten, you will be the first point of contact for members and guests arriving at the club. Your role is essential in creating a welcoming, exceptional experience by providing high-level customer service and assisting with various outside operations. You will be responsible for maintaining the golf course area, handling golfers' equipment, managing carts, and ensuring the overall presentation of the club's exterior and golf facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Greeting & Customer Service:
o Provide a friendly, professional greeting to members and guests as they arrive at the club, ensuring they feel welcome and valued. o Assist golfers with their bags, equipment, and requests as they prepare for their rounds, ensuring a smooth check-in process.
Golf Cart Management:
o Ensure golf carts are properly cleaned, charged, and ready for use before golfers' rounds. o Provide assistance to golfers in loading and unloading their bags from carts, ensuring their equipment is handled with care. o Monitor the course and ensure carts are used in accordance with club policies (e.g., cart path rules, designated areas). o Assist in managing the cart staging area, ensuring that carts are appropriately distributed and ready for use according to the tee sheet.
Bag Handling & Valet Services:
o Safely store and retrieve golfers' bags, ensuring that bags are organized and easily accessible. o Assist with transporting golf bags to and from the range and other areas as needed.
Course Maintenance Support:
o Maintain the cleanliness of the golf course areas, including the driving range, parking lot, cart staging area, and practice greens. o Ensure trash and debris are cleared from the course and surrounding areas, maintaining a clean and professional appearance at all times.
Safety & Equipment Maintenance:
o Inspect golf carts, clubs, and other equipment regularly to ensure they are in safe working order and report any issues to management. o Maintain safety procedures for handling golf equipment, particularly when working with electric carts and large bags.
Communication & Coordination:
o Communicate with the Golf Shop to coordinate tee times, cart availability, and golfer needs. o Be responsive to any requests or changes in the golf course schedule, ensuring smooth operations throughout the day.
Other Duties:
o Assist with special events, tournaments, or member outings as required. o Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Golf Operations and/or Assistant Golf Professionals.
Qualifications:
Experience:
o Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within the golf or hospitality industry, is highly desirable. o Experience handling golf equipment, carts, or providing valet-type services is a plus, but not required. o A genuine interest in golf and understanding of the game is preferred.
Customer Service Skills:
o Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with golfers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner. o Ability to handle situations with poise, especially when dealing with high-end clientele.
Physical Requirements:
o Ability to lift and carry golf bags (up to 40 pounds), assist with cart handling, and stand or walk for extended periods of time. o Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, or rain. o Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and assist with repetitive tasks.
Teamwork & Independence:
o Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaborate effectively with a team. o Willingness to take on additional tasks and assist where needed to ensure operations run smoothly.
Punctuality & Flexibility:
o Strong attention to punctuality and reliability, with the ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the club's schedule. o Ability to handle a flexible work schedule to accommodate changing demands or special events.
