JOB SUMMARY

This is non-professional work involving the planning, preparation and serving of meals for delinquent youth in a detention facility. An employee in this position shall be skilled in preparing meals that meet the requirements set forth by the State Child Nutrition Program. They shall also be capable of planning and organizing menus; implementing proper storage techniques for food and maintaining accurate inventory records. They shall be knowledgeable in the safe use of all kitchens supporting equipment practicing proper hygiene and maintaining a clean food area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and prepare meals. Purchase supplies and food as required. Maintain accurate inventory and records. Clean and sanitize areas of kitchen. Ensure appropriate and adequate storage of food and supplies. Comply with all regulations of State Child Nutrition Program. Maintain a clean and sanitary work site and kitchen. Report any broken or damaged equipment.

Knowledge and Skills :

Knowledge of the English language to include grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic math; of first aid. Ability to read and comprehend written materials encountered on the job; to follow written and oral instructions from supervisor to communicate effectively with staff, and commercial vendors.

Minimum Qualifications Standards :

At least a high school diploma or a GED Certificate; Physical health adequate; must have annual medical examination; must be able to stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.; A valid driver's license; Minimum age of 21 years; Good moral character, personal maturity, and emotional stability as evidenced by references or other appropriate documentation Pass drug screen and background check
