Job Description

Kitchen Food Service Worker Hoffmann Hospice is seeking a reliable and compassionate Full-Time Kitchen Food Service Worker to join our team at our Inpatient Hospice Home. Preference will be given to candidates with previous food service or kitchen experience in a healthcare setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Read and follow recipes, product directions, and food preparation instructions. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food service environment. Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures. Maintain appropriate records and requisitions for food, supplies, and equipment in accordance with Hoffmann Hospice policies and applicable regulations. Estimate food requirements and maintain appropriate food levels while minimizing waste. Prepare a variety of hot and cold foods. Prepare meals according to individual patient dietary restrictions and special diet requirements. Operate a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment for weighing, measuring, mixing, washing, peeling, cutting, grinding, stirring, straining, seasoning, and other food preparation tasks. Properly store food and follow appropriate temperature-control and food-safety practices. Set up serving areas with entrees, soups, salads, breads, condiments, utensils, beverages, and other food products. Brew coffee and tea and maintain beverage service areas. Perform stocking duties for food and service areas. Interact professionally and respectfully with patients, families, visitors, and staff. Assist patients with opening containers or cutting food when requested and appropriate. Qualifications Previous food preparation or kitchen experience required; healthcare or hospital food service experience preferred. Knowledge of food safety regulations and safe food-handling practices. Experience with meal preparation and/or catering services preferred. Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work cooperatively with patients, families, visitors, and members of the hospice care team. Dependable attendance and ability to work the assigned schedule. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for prolonged periods, including up to 60 minutes at a time. Frequently bend, stoop, reach, and work at varying heights and angles, including working over beds, chairs, desks, and other surfaces. Push, pull, and lift up to 200 pounds (with assistance) as required to perform essential job duties. Safely operate cleaning and food service equipment. Perform repetitive movements associated with food preparation, cleaning, laundry, and housekeeping duties.
