Banquet Captain Scotts Valley, CA | Full-Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt About the Role 1440 Multiversity is looking for a Banquet Captain to help lead the day-to-day execution of programs, events, and food and beverage experiences across our campus. This is a hands-on supervisory role. You'll lead from the front - coordinating the team, timing, room setup, service, and guest needs while also jumping in alongside the team to get the work done. From setup through breakdown, the Banquet Captain helps make sure the details come together and our guests receive the Deep Hospitality 1440 is known for. What You'll Do Take the lead on assigned programs and events from setup through completion. Direct and work alongside team members during room setup, food and beverage service, coffee breaks, receptions, classes, room transitions, cleanup, and breakdown. Make sure event spaces are ready, clean, safe, and set according to the plan. Keep an eye on timing, service flow, staffing, and guest needs throughout the event and adjust when needed. Work closely with Culinary, Front Office, Program Experiences, Production, Facilities, and other teams to keep things running smoothly. Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and training to hourly team members and help build a confident, capable team. Respond to guest and client requests and help resolve issues in the moment. Maintain accurate BEOs, event information, consumption, inventory, and other operational details. Support inventory tracking, shipping and receiving, and event-related packages and supplies. Help support other areas of campus operations when needed - we're very much a one-team environment. What We're Looking For At least 2 years of hospitality, banquet, event, food and beverage, program, or guest-service experience. Previous lead or supervisory experience is preferred. Someone who is comfortable giving direction and rolling up their sleeves to work alongside the team. Strong guest service and communication skills. Ability to stay organized and calm when priorities change or several things are happening at once. Confidence working with guests, clients, faculty, and team members. Experience with BEOs, event-management systems, or banquet operations is a plus. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional split shifts.
