A Busser, Banquet Worker, or Cafeteria Attendant assists with food service at a restaurant, large banquet hall or cafeteria. Removes used dishes, sets tables with clean dishes and linens, replenishes foods served at food stations or buffet tables, and provides water, coffee or other beverages for patrons.
We're a fast-paced, community-loved dessert cafe looking for an experienced Barista/Assistant Manager to help lead our front-of-house operations. You'll work directly alongside the owner, playing a key role in daily operations, staff development, and keeping our high-energy, guest-first culture running smoothly. What You'll Bring:
2+ years of hands-on barista experience (espresso-based drinks — coffee shop, cafe, or similar; boba/tea shop experience does not count toward this requirement) 1+ years in a supervisory, shift-lead, or assistant manager role (food service or retail environment preferred) Current ServSafe Food Handler's Certification (required — please have this ready to share) Proven ability to multitask and stay composed during rush periods Strong communication skills — warm, upbeat energy with every customer and team interaction Solid understanding of cleaning and sanitation standards Comfortable training, coaching, and giving feedback to new and existing staff Basic inventory and cost management skills (tracking usage, minimizing waste, ordering) Comfortable receiving and organizing shipments accurately Strong organizational skills for reporting shift/day status to ownership Cost-conscious mindset — thinks like an owner when it comes to product and labor Trustworthy with cash handling and register responsibilities Open availability for closing shifts and weekends (required) Self-driven, reliable, and a genuine team player
Key Responsibilities:
Work front-of-house as barista and scooper to ensure smooth daily operations (majority effort goes into this) Train and onboard new staff, and continually coach the team on quality and service standards Oversee product/drink quality and consistency across shifts Manage inventory: track stock levels, place/receive orders, organize storage Handle cash handling, register operations, and till accuracy/reconciliation Report daily/shift status, issues, and needs to ownership Support cost control through smart ordering and waste reduction Step in on the bar as needed — this is a hands-on leadership role, not purely supervisory
