Full-time | Flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays About the Role The Westin Westminster is seeking an experienced and service-driven Banquet Captain to lead and support our banquet team in executing flawless meetings, events, and social functions. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring that every event is set up, serviced, and broken down according to hotel and brand standards — all while delivering exceptional guest experiences. Responsibilities Lead banquet servers and housemen during setup, service, and breakdown of events. Ensure event spaces are properly arranged according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Communicate effectively with the Banquet Manager, Culinary, and Event Management teams to ensure accurate and timely service. Conduct pre-shift meetings to review event details, assignments, and service expectations. Supervise floor operations during events to ensure high-quality service and guest satisfaction. Anticipate and address guest needs promptly and professionally. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all banquet areas and equipment. Complete event reports, side work, and closing checklists accurately. Train and coach banquet staff to maintain Westin service standards. Ensure compliance with food safety, alcohol service, and safety regulations. Qualifications Previous banquet or catering leadership experience required (Marriott or upscale hotel experience preferred). Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail. Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent guest service and problem-solving abilities. Ability to stand, walk, and lift/carry up to 40 lbs for extended periods. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. TIPS or ServSafe certification preferred.
