Staffing & Event Operations Assistant Who We Are:
SaltBlock Hospitality is an award-winning catering and hospitality group based in Tampa, Florida, delivering chef-driven cuisine and highly customized event experiences at venues like Armature Works, Tampa Museum of Art, Hyde House, private residences + more! We're not a standard banquet operation - every SaltBlock experience is unique, which means our team brings real attention to detail, sharp time management, and the confidence to lead through anything.The Role:
The Staffing & Event Operations Assistant plays a vital role split across the week: spending ~2 days managing event expo prep, and ~2 days (or weekend shifts) supporting the staffing department. This individual acts as the operational bridge between event planning and live execution, preparing critical paperwork and signage mid-week, then transitioning to active staffing communication, weekend event support, and live workforce oversight. What You'll Own Event Expo & Prep SupportDocument Preparation :
Print and assemble critical event paperwork, including Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), checklists, floor plans, and timelines.Event Signage & Printables :
Create and review event materials including Station Menus, Bar Menus, Tent Cards, and Avery labels for formatting and accuracy.Cross-Departmental Coordination :
Communicate regularly with Sales, Culinary, Operations, and Staffing to align prep materials, logistics, and event details.Inventory & Office Admin :
Maintain office workspaces, archive past event records, track POS/event equipment, and manage administrative supplies.MOD Desk & Prep :
Ensure the Manager on Duty (MOD) desk and event lead bins are fully stocked with accurate weekend staffing documents, emergency supplies, and uniforms. Staffing Department Support & Weekend CoverageLive Shift Oversight :
Manage the staffing phone line to handle day-of emergencies, call-offs, shift swaps, and real-time roster adjustments across live systems (When I Work, MESS, TPP).Staff Communication :
Act as the primary point of contact for weekend staff, delivering clear updates, maintaining continuity from weekday staffing leads, and sending candidate interview reminders.Uniform Management :
Prepare, distribute, and enforce uniform compliance for leads and crew; track inventory and reconcile returned items.Timekeeping & Payroll Assistance :
Audit live employee time entries, contact staff for missing times, updateMESS/WIW
shift records, and flag overtime risks.Onsite Event & Training Support :
Serve as an onsite Manager on Duty (MOD), lead events, or provide general staffing/expo backup during peak operational periods.Team Accountability & Recaps :
Review post-event recaps, log disciplinary actions, and share operational feedback with the staffing team. What We Offer- Competitive pay

Preferred Skills and Qualities:
:- Background in hospitality, event operations, or high-volume staffing support.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, When I Work (WIW), MESS, Canva, and/or Avery Templates.
- Excellent attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, strong written/verbal communication, and ability to manage tasks independently.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods during onsite events.
- English fluency required; bilingual is a plus.
Compensation :
- base starting at $21/hr
