Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Food Service Worker Lead and take charge of overseeing daily food service operations within a correctional facility, including supervising and directing inmate workers while maintaining a safe, secure, and productive work environment. Manage food and supply inventories, conduct accurate counts, monitor usage, and maintain proper stock levels to minimize waste and prevent shortages. Assist with menu planning and management to ensure meals are prepared according to established nutritional, dietary, and institutional requirements. Coordinate meal preparation, production schedules, portion control, sanitation, and timely meal distribution. Provide leadership and training to inmate workers, assign daily duties, monitor performance, and enforce workplace procedures and safety standards. Maintain accurate records, inspect food service areas, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable health and sanitation regulations. All roles are paid positions, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and dedication in every task. Duties Supervise daily food preparation, cooking, and serving activities to ensure quality and efficiency Monitor portion control and food production quantities to minimize waste and maintain appropriate meal service levels. Ensure proper food storage, temperature control, sanitation, cleaning, and adherence to food safety standards. Inspect kitchen equipment and work areas to identify safety, sanitation, or operational concerns and report issues as necessary Manage inventory control, including ordering, stock rotation, and waste reduction to optimize resources Coordinate shift management by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and maintaining a smooth workflow Ensure compliance with health regulations, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures Skills Extensive experience in food preparation, cooking, and quick service or fast-food environments Strong background in inventory control, food safety management, and budget oversight Proven leadership skills in maintaining accountability and security of inmate workers while enforcing facility policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Excellent communication skills for managerial tasks such as interviewing, staff training, and conflict resolution Basic math skills for inventory calculations, P&L analysis, and budgeting purposes Maintain daily production records, inventory documentation, meal counts, sanitation logs, and other required food service records. Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and safe work practices among food service staff and inmate workers.
Pay:
From $16.79 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
