POSITION SUMMARY
Provides efficient meal service operation by preparing and serving safe, tasty and attractive foods to students according to the guidelines of the school nutrition program. Adheres to food service operations as required by the federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and procedures. This position reports to the Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs duties of food preparation, serves and cleans up as assigned by the manager. Prepares food according to recipe making no modification without the manager's approval. Completes food preparation and prepares timely food line for serving students. Ensures adherence to food safety procedures; washes dishes, and stores them properly, sweeps and cleans kitchen floors, follows the procedures for operating large and small food service equipment etc. Maintains record of food for menu management books. Assists manager in ordering, receiving and control of food and supplies. Operates computer at meals and performs cash counts as directed. Attends job related training classes and workshops. Adheres to all standards, policies, and regulations of the school nutrition program. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience in Nutrition. Follows recommendations which impact school level personnel, food preparation and service, sanitation and safety. Light independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an as-needed basis to establish order in the cafeteria. Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel of decision-making responsibility. School Nutrition Staff, School Administration, Faculty, and Students. Work environment- school kitchens/cafeteria. Subjected to varying degrees of temperatures ranging from 100 degrees or more, or fall below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Subjected to varying levels of sound (noise). Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be capable to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.
NOTE:
This is a grade 13, 185 day position that pays for experience up Step 6 to step 8.
