This position prepares, maintains, and replenishes the hotel's complimentary breakfast while providing friendly and professional service to every guest. The Breakfast Attendant is an important representative of the Fairfield Inn & Suites brand and is expected to maintain a clean, safe, organized, and inviting breakfast environment while following hotel, Marriott, and food-safety standards. Primary Responsibilities Breakfast Preparation & Service Arrive on time and be ready to begin breakfast preparation at the scheduled start of the shift. Prepare and set up the breakfast area according to Fairfield Inn & Suites standards. Ensure breakfast food and beverage stations are fully stocked, fresh, attractive, and properly presented. Monitor hot and cold food temperatures throughout breakfast service. Replenish food, beverages, coffee, utensils, plates, cups, condiments, and other supplies as needed. Monitor the breakfast area and anticipate guest needs before they become requests. Prepare and maintain coffee, juices, waffle station, cereals, breads, fruits, and other breakfast offerings. Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, dating, and sanitation procedures. Guest Service Greet guests warmly and professionally as they enter the breakfast area. Provide friendly assistance with questions regarding breakfast items, hotel amenities, and local information when appropriate. Maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere throughout the breakfast period. Monitor guest satisfaction and promptly communicate concerns to management. Thank guests for staying with Fairfield Inn & Suites. Demonstrate genuine hospitality and treat every guest with courtesy and respect. Cleanliness & Sanitation Keep tables, chairs, counters, buffet areas, beverage stations, and floors clean throughout breakfast. Promptly clear and sanitize tables after guests depart. Clean and sanitize breakfast equipment and food preparation areas. Sweep, mop, and/or vacuum assigned areas as needed. Remove trash and replace liners when necessary. Maintain cleanliness of assigned public areas and restrooms. Follow all hotel, local, state, and federal food-safety and sanitation requirements. Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to hotel procedures. Closing Duties Properly break down the breakfast buffet at the conclusion of service. Store remaining food according to hotel food-safety procedures. Label, date, rotate, and properly store food items. Clean and sanitize breakfast equipment, counters, tables, chairs, and floors. Restock supplies for the following morning. Complete the required breakfast opening/closing checklist. Ensure the breakfast area is fully prepared for the next day's service. Report equipment problems, maintenance needs, supply shortages, or safety concerns to management. Weekend Expectations Because this is a weekend position , dependable weekend attendance is an essential responsibility.
The successful candidate must:
Be available to work scheduled Saturday and Sunday morning shifts. Arrive on time and prepared to work. Understand that hotel operations continue 365 days a year, including holidays. Be flexible when occupancy, groups, or hotel business levels require additional assistance. Communicate with management as early as possible regarding any scheduling concerns.
Qualifications Required:
Friendly and positive attitude. Reliable and dependable attendance. Strong customer-service skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to communicate professionally with guests and team members. Ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to clean, stock, lift, bend, reach, push, and stand for extended periods. Ability to follow food-safety and sanitation procedures.
Preferred:
Previous hotel, restaurant, food-service, or customer-service experience. Previous breakfast attendant or hospitality experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience is helpful but not required . Marriott breakfast attendant positions commonly emphasize guest service, maintaining the breakfast area, food safety, stocking, cleaning, and teamwork. (Marriott Careers) Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, stoop, reach, twist, and lift. Push and pull carts and equipment. Lift and carry supplies and food items. Safely perform duties involving kitchen and cleaning equipment. Work around hot and cold food, kitchen equipment, and cleaning chemicals. Lift up to approximately 25-50 pounds as required by job duties and hotel needs. Key Performance Expectations The Weekend Breakfast Attendant will be expected to consistently: 1. Put the Guest First Create a welcoming breakfast experience and make guests feel valued. 2. Keep Breakfast Fully Stocked Guests should not have to ask for basic breakfast items to be replenished. 3. Maintain a Clean Environment Tables, floors, buffet areas, equipment, and public spaces should remain clean throughout service. 4. Follow Food-Safety Standards Proper temperatures, storage, labeling, dating, and sanitation procedures must always be followed. 5. Be Dependable Weekend attendance and punctuality are critical to successful hotel operations. 6. Communicate Immediately communicate guest concerns, maintenance issues, supply shortages, or other operational concerns to management. 7. Be a Team Player Assist other departments when breakfast duties are completed and hotel operations require additional support.
