Job Description

Overview Cafe Hope is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in preparing and serving nutritious meals. This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in food service and the food industry, contributing to a community-focused environment. The Kitchen Assistant will play a vital part in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen operation, ensuring that all food safety standards are met. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about culinary arts, food handling, and serving others. Duties Assist in meal preparation and food service, including cooking and plating dishes Utilize knife skills for chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients efficiently and safely Prepare ingredients and assist with food handling to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment in accordance with food safety regulations Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in meal quality Help organize inventory and restock supplies as needed Support the team during busy meal times by assisting with various kitchen tasks Qualifications Previous experience in cooking, food preparation, or food service is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is valued Basic knife skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures Experience working in a restaurant, catering, or kitchen environment is a plus Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety Passion for serving others and contributing positively to a community-oriented organization This role offers an enriching opportunity for individuals interested in developing culinary skills within a supportive team environment.
