Cook / Prep Cook — LuckycatWho We Are Luckycat is a newly launched, woman- and AAPI-owned specialty coffee shop in Lakeview East. Our café brings together carefully sourced coffee and thoughtfully made food, shaped by an Asian American point of view — approachable on the surface, with real craft behind it. What You Bring Minimum of 1 year of relevant kitchen experience Working knowledge of temperature control, core kitchen equipment, knife technique, and food storage standards Eye for detail when packaging retail items so they look great on display Warm, proactive, customer-first approach Comfortable with everyday math and calculating food ratios At ease working in a scratch-kitchen setting Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends Ability to stand for up to 5-hour stretches Ability to lift 40 lbs or more Chicago food handler's license obtained before your start date Technical Skills Confident knife work — clean, consistent cuts at a steady pace Solid grasp of food temperature control and safe holding/cooking temps Strong sanitation habits, including proper cleaning, storage, and cross-contamination prevention Familiarity with food safety and prep standards set by the City of Chicago Comfortable following recipes and prep specs precisely and consistently What You'll Do Open and/or close the kitchen per established procedures Assemble and prepare food items on the spot for guests Help produce our baked goods, pastries, and dessert offerings alongside standard prep work Keep prep lists and tickets moving efficiently and accurately Track inventory and prep needs, checking in regularly with management and the wider team Help restock supplies and manage inventory as the need arises Bring a careful, detail-oriented approach to every item you prep or finish Keep your workspace safe, tidy, and organized, and pitch in to keep the café spotless from both a guest-experience and health-code perspective Clean and maintain kitchen equipment on a routine basis Stay in close communication with teammates and managers, working together to give customers a great experience Follow all City of Chicago health and safety requirements What We Offer Pay that's competitive for the busy Lakeview retail corridor Bonus cash incentives tied to performance Discounted food and retail items for staff Paid time off along with paid family/sick leave Paid training during onboarding Growth opportunities within the company A team culture built around quality, community, and collaboration The chance to help shape a brand-new specialty coffee concept Ready to Join Us?
