Position:
Substitute Food Service Worker District 428 Dekalb Schools
PART -TIME
Job Description:
The Substitute Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing, serving food, and cleaning dishes, in one of our District 428 Schools as needed. The applicant must be available Monday-Friday to fill in one of our cafeterias as needed. This position is great for those who cannot work everyday but can help out as needed to run our day to day Kitchen operations for students. The cleaning duties include wiping down surfaces, washing dishes and sanitizing tables and equipment. And all other assigned duties. The position requires the availability to train a week or 2 in a kitchen to learn the daily functions, then be on call as needed. Applicant will need to obtain and complete food handler training by the end of the work training.

Prepare food and serve, and clean dishes, and equipment. Maintain a clean and sanitized work area. Report any maintenance issues with the production floor to the Production Manager. Comply with all safety rules and regulations. Maintain a positive attitude and work well with others in a team environment. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must be available to fill in M-F as needed when asked with ample notice. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and students. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be comfortable with cooking and prepping cafeteria food. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to follow policies and procedures. Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds frequently.
