POSITION
School Cafeteria Technician/ Cafeteria Worker
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-Time, 9-Month Position
SALARY:
Level III Schedule 3 MPSD Pay Scale; Based on verified years of relevant work experience and district compensation guidelines.
WORK SCHEDULE
The selected candidate must be available to work assigned hours and schedules as determined by the Child Nutrition Department and school administration. Work schedules may vary based on school meal service needs, special events, training requirements, and district operations.

JOB SUMMARY
The Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a dependable, customer service-oriented, and detail-focused Child Nutrition Technician to support the preparation, service, and delivery of nutritious meals to students while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local child nutrition regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and serve meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, portion controls, and nutritional guidelines. Assist with food preparation, including washing, cutting, assembling, and packaging food items.
Operate kitchen equipment and food service tools safely and efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen facilities, serving areas, equipment, utensils, and food preparation surfaces. Follow all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation requirements.
Accurately record meal counts and assist with required documentation and reporting.
Receive, store, rotate, and inventory food and supplies according to established procedures.
Monitor food temperatures and maintain food safety standards throughout preparation and service. Provide courteous and professional customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Highh school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to food preparation and meal service.
Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and regular attendance.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to effectively supervise students in a transportation setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in food service, school nutrition, restaurant, cafeteria, hospitality, or related
work environment. Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain certification as required.
Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment.
Experience working with children or in a school setting.
PHYCIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move food products, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 40
- 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including kitchens, coolers, and freezers.
REQUIRED PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all district hiring requirements, which may include criminal background checks and fingerprinting, drug screening, verification of employment eligibility, verification of education and work history, and any additional requirements established by MPSD and Louisiana law.
