Job Description

The Food Service Aide assumes the responsibility for performing a variety of tasks related to the preparation assembly, distribution, pick-up and clean-up of patient's and visitor's meal trays. Responsible for serving attractive, well garnished, and well organized patient trays with the utmost accuracy and speed. Maintains proper food temperatures consistently and dissembles and cleans tray line.
Educational Requirements:
High school or equivalent required. Knowledge of proper body mechanics desirable. Must have the ability to read, write, and follow instructions both verbally and written; Requires knowledge of and skills to operate kitchen equipment and the effective use of cleaning agents; knowledge of customer relations desirable; must have knowledge of emergency procedures, particularly in the event of a fire; knowledge of Health Department Standards required.
Experience Requirements:
Previous food service experience helpful; Hospital/health care setting preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Work is inside and requires considerable standing and walking in and about the department; some lifting, stooping, bending as required to perform duties; must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be able to meet deadlines; must be able to understand and follow instructions; may be required to work evenings/weekends/holidays to meet staffing needs; must have home telephone; exposure to hot plates and possible wet floors.
