Removes used dishes, sets tables with clean dishes and linens, replenishes foods served at food stations or buffet tables, and provides water, coffee or other beverages for patrons.
Position Overview Four Rivers Charter Public School is seeking a dependable and student-centered Food Services Helper to support daily lunch service for approximately 220 students in grades 7 through 12. Working approximately three hours per school day, the Food Services Helper prepares the serving area, supports three lunch periods, assists students and staff, and completes daily cleaning and setup for the following day. This position works closely with the Food Services Coordinator and contributes to a safe, efficient, and welcoming meal program. The Food Services Helper supports an orderly, welcoming lunch experience and helps ensure that all students can access meals with dignity. Core ResponsibilitiesMeal Service Prepare the kitchen and serving areas for daily lunch service. Receive, organize, portion, and serve meals according to established procedures. Support meal service during three student lunch periods. Greet and assist students in a welcoming and respectful manner. Maintain efficient service and help students move through the lunch line safely. Replenish food, beverages, utensils, and supplies throughout service. Follow procedures for meal counts, portion sizes, dietary accommodations, and food temperatures. Communicate shortages, service concerns, and student needs promptly to the Food Services Coordinator. Cleaning and Daily Setup Clean and sanitize serving surfaces, equipment, utensils, and food service areas. Complete dishes and other cleanup following lunch service. Remove trash, recycling, and food waste according to school procedures. Organize deliveries, inventory, and supplies. Restock materials and prepare the kitchen and serving area for the next school day. Help maintain a kitchen that is clean, safe, orderly, and ready for required inspections. Program and Team Support Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergy, and student confidentiality procedures. Assist with meal service for special schedules, testing days, fieldwork, and school events when scheduled during regular work hours. Participate in required food safety, civil rights, and school nutrition training. Collaborate with the Food Services Coordinator, food service vendor, School Nurse, and other school staff. Complete other related food service duties consistent with the position. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience. Dependability, punctuality, and consistent attendance. Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to follow food safety procedures and detailed instructions. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine lifting, bending, reaching, and cleaning tasks. Commitment to treating students and colleagues with care, dignity, and respect. Willingness to complete required food safety and school nutrition training. Preferred Previous experience in school food service, restaurants, hospitality, or institutional kitchens. Experience working with adolescents.
