1-2 Substitute Cafeteria Workers Position Summary Sutton Public Schools is seeking 1-2 dependable and service-oriented District Cafeteria Worker Substitutes for the 2026-2027 school year. Substitute cafeteria workers provide essential coverage for staff absences and may work in either the Elementary School or Middle/High School cafeteria. Work hours may vary based on coverage needs and generally fall between 6:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. The ideal candidate will be reliable, flexible, comfortable working in a fast-paced food service environment, and committed to providing students with friendly and welcoming service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Assist with the preparation and serving of food items. Serve food according to established portion sizes and guidelines. Provide students and staff with friendly, courteous, and welcoming service. Operate the dish machine and assist with tray collection. Clean and maintain food production and service areas as assigned. Follow established food safety, sanitation, and cafeteria procedures. Assist cafeteria staff with daily operations as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Managers. Physical Demands The position requires the ability to: Stand and move for extended periods of time. Frequently walk, bend, reach, and perform other activities associated with cafeteria operations. Lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work effectively in a busy food service environment. Qualifications and Desired Skills Dependable and punctual attendance. Ability to work cooperatively with cafeteria staff, students, and school personnel. Friendly and positive attitude. Ability to follow directions and established procedures. Ability to adapt to changing daily coverage needs. Previous food service experience is helpful but not required. Schedule Hours will vary depending on staff coverage needs and will generally be scheduled between 6:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Assignments may be at either Sutton Elementary School or Sutton Middle/High School.
