What you can expect as a Food Service Worker The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in supporting the daily health, independence, and well-being of the Perkins School community. By maintaining high standards of food safety, mealtime organization, and dining room cleanliness, this role helps foster an accessible, welcoming, and predictable environment where students and staff can thrive.
The work schedule is:
Monday through Friday, 12:30 pm to 7:00 pm. How you will make an impact: Transport food and supplies efficiently to service stations. Assemble, set up, and continually replenish food, beverages, utensils, napkins, and condiments across dining tables and service bars. Clear and sanitize dining tables, collect refuse, and properly handle leftover food. Load, set up, and operate commercial dishwashers to ensure all equipment and utensils are thoroughly cleaned. Maintain strict hygiene standards by cleaning workstations, counters, chairs, refrigerators, and dispensers. Sweep and mop floors regularly in designated areas. Perform other operational tasks and duties as needed to support overall team success.
Education/Experience:
No formal education required. Up to six months of related food service or hospitality experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to read, write, and speak clear, simple sentences to interact effectively with team members and guests. Comfort working with basic measurements of weight, volume, and distance for inventory and food prep needs. Ability to follow detailed, straightforward written or verbal instructions using practical, everyday logic. Position requires walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, independent travel across campus, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Moderate noise level. Includes exposure to wet/humid conditions, refrigeration/freezer units, cleaning chemicals, sharp utensils, and commercial kitchen equipment. The following shared salary range is what Perkins reasonably expects, in good faith, to pay for the position. The applicable range could differ based on experience and qualification. $15.48-$21.86 Perkins offers a comprehensive benefits package for part time and full time employees, including: Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Wellness programs available.
